Red Flowering Gum
Botanic name: Corymbia ficifolia (formerly Eucalyptus ficifolia – often still referred to by its former name)
A most spectacular flowering evergreen tree, producing a brilliant profusion of flowers in mid-summer ranging in colour from deep crimson or scarlet red to orange, pink or even white against the thick mass of large mid-green leaves.
A beautiful shade tree – most attractive to birds for its good nectar flow. Grows to about 10m (33′). Height can be restricted by pruning if required – pruning after flowering will not adversely affect flowering in future seasons – in fact pruning often stimulates profuse flowering and strong colours in the following flowering season.
