Their hex shape promotes ease of storage and allows for easier performance of specific exercises where the rolling of round dumbbells can become an issue - such as renegade rows. The rubber coating serves the dual purpose of reducing noise when dropped and protection of your gym, or home, flooring. However, rubber coating has one major disadvantage - it can have a terrible odour.
